It’s Alive! This 3-D Printed House Builds More Houses

It’s Alive! This 3-D Printed House Builds More Houses | COOL 3DPRINTING | Scoop.it

Who will build the world’s first 3-D printed house? The answer gets less certain with each passing month.

Just this week, a third team, Dutch architecture firm DUS, announced that it was tossing its hat into the ring, revealing plans to break ground on a design for a 3-D printed house on one of Amsterdam’s iconic canals within the next six months.

The firm will be competing to finish its design before two other firms get there first: including Dutchman Janjaap Ruijssenaars’s Möbius-strip shaped Landscape House, and London-based Softkill Design’s fibrous, naturalistic ProtoHouse.

Signal Snowboards, the same company responsible for the snowboard made completely from glass, is at it again and this time, the company has used 3D printing technology to create a custom snowboard.

Winter in the Northern Hemisphere may have just ended, but that doesn't mean snow has escaped the hearts and minds of riders.

Strapping in and using the 3D-printed snowboard is just like any other board Riding on the 3D-printed snowboard The team added metal strips to reinforce the 3D-printed snowboard The 3D-printed snowboard ended up being too flimsy without reinforcement View all

The team at Signal worked with GROWit 3D to create the board. The two companies used a Connex 500 printer to accomplish the job,

Engineering 3D-Printed Stem Cells

While much has been said on the topic of 3D printing within the context of the maker movement, it is in the medical world where arguably the most important advances are being mad

Scientists at the Heriot-Watt University in Scotland have recently proven they can print human embryonic stem cells, a breakthrough which has the potential to revolutionise organ replacement in the coming years

.

The printer is able to print clusters of the embryonic stem cells delicately enough that they don’t get harmed in the process — this is done by using a series of microvalves.
